Type O Negative was an American gothic metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1989. The band consisted of Peter Steele on vocals and bass, Kenny Hickey on guitar, Josh Silver on keyboards, and Sal Abruscato on drums. Type O Negative gained a cult following for their dark and atmospheric music, blending elements of heavy metal, goth rock, and doom metal.

Throughout their career, Type O Negative released seven studio albums, starting with Slow, Deep and Hard in 1991. The band's breakthrough came with their third album, Bloody Kisses, released in 1993. The album featured the hit single "Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All)" and is considered a classic of the gothic metal genre.

Other notable albums by Type O Negative include October Rust (1996), World Coming Down (1999), and Dead Again (2007). The band's music often explored themes of love, death, and the occult, with a dark sense of humor and a theatrical flair.

Despite their success, Type O Negative faced internal conflicts and lineup changes over the years. Peter Steele's struggles with drug addiction and mental health issues also took a toll on the band. Tragically, Steele passed away in 2010, marking the end of Type O Negative.
